Strategies
We are learning to use a variety of strategies to read words we don't know. If we get stuck on a word we should: say the beginning sound, look at the picture, think about what would make sense, and read the sentence again.
Comprehension
We are also learning to add details and character names when we re-tell the stories that we read. We are also beginning to make personal connections to the stories we read and explain what the book reminds us of in our own lives.
Fluency
We are working hard to sound like a teacher when we read by reading in phrases and adding expression to our voices.
Spelling
We are writing short vowel spelling patterns.
